A FINELY ENAMELLED DOUCAI AND
FAMILLE-ROSE ‘SANDUO’ BOWL
YONGZHENG MARK AND PERIOD
the steep rounded sides rising from a short
straight foot to an everted rim, finely enamelled
around the exterior and outlined in underglaze
cobalt-blue with touches of famille rose with
three fruiting sprays of pomegranate, finger-
citron and lychee, all together constituting the
auspicious san duo or ‘Three Abundances’,
the foliage of each in two tones of green, the
interior with a leafy cluster of two peaches in
shaded apple-green and iron-red below an iron-
red bud and flower, within double lines repeated
at the rim

PROVENANCE
The K’ung Hsiang-Hsi (Kong Xiangxi, 1881-
1967) Collection, New York, and thence by
descent within the family.
