            the straight sides rising from a tapering foot to a waisted
            neck, flanked by four animal-mask handles on the side,
            the exterior vibrantly painted and gilded with immortals
            in a courtyard situated in a mountainous waterscape, all
            between a band of floral motifs to the shoulder and foot, the
            cover decorated with foreign figures carrying various gifts
            in a mountainscape, surmounted by a gilded animal-shape
            finial, the interior with a separate bowl, the base with a four-
            character seal mark in iron-red

            QING DYNASTY, 18TH CENTURY
            the deep rounded sides rising from a recessed base to a
            short straight rim, brightly painted in reverse and gilt around
            the exterior with three phoenix amidst leafy scrolling peony
            branches, all reserved on a red ground, the neck with a
            diaper band between gilt lines
