finished oval foot ring, painted to both sides in subdued colors on neck, very subtly convex lip, circular foot ring, decorated with rows
a beige ground, each depicting a finely detailed cat and blooming of roundels against a ground molded with swastika symbols, each
morning glory vines, one side signed Shouben, followed by one seal of roundel painted in underglaze blue with a stylized lotus flower-head.

Liu Shouben was an early student of Ye Bengqi and his brother, Ye The Fima and Lillian Ginzberg collection (collected 1935-1950)
Xiaofeng, who founded the modern Beijing School in the 1950’s. Liu
continues to this day as the doyen of the Beijing School after Wang Literature
