An embellished white jade snuff bottle
The bottle: 1750-1820, embellishment: Tsuda family, Kyoto Japan,
20th century
Well-hollowed, of compressed globular form with a cylindrical neck, flat
lip, concave foot, the translucent and evenly hued white stone skillfully
applied with lacquer and soapstone chips of differing colors depicting an
exotic bird perching on a fruiting peach branch on one side, the verso
decorated with a meiren in a layered flowing robe, her left hand holding
a basket containing flowers, her right hand carrying an additional flower
branch over her slender shoulder; with traces of gilding.

Of tapering ovoid form with a short, cylindrical neck, flat lip and foot,
well-carved in relief to the body with tight basket weave patterns; the
evenly-toned white stone with natural fissure veins.
