RARE STATUE DE USHNISHAVIJAYA EN
BRONZE PARTIELLEMENT REPOUSSE
MONGOLIE, XVIIIEME SIECLE
Elle est représentée assise en vajrasana sur un
socle lotiforme. Ses mains principales tiennent
le vishvavajra. Ses autres mains rayonnent autour
d'elle et tiennent un arc, une fèche et à l'origine une
fgure miniature de Bouddha (manquante). Elle est
parée de bijoux incrustés et vêtue d'un sari, un châle
sur ses épaules. Ses trois visages sont empreints
de sévérité.

The embellishment of the jewellery and the
treatment of the celestial scarf are similar to that
on a fgure of Manjusri, dating to the 17th/frst
half of 18th century, illustrated in On the Path to
Enlightenment, The Berti Aschmann Foundation of
Tibetan Art at the Museum Rietberg Zurich, 1995,
p. 114, no. 65. Compare also two other examples
in the Folkens Museum Etnografska, Stockholm,
illustrated in Wisdom and Compassion - The Sacred
Art of Tibet, Thames and Hudson, 1991, pp. 144-
145, nos. 35-36.
