THANGKA REPRESENTANT MAGZOR
GYALMO
TIBET CENTRAL, CIRCA 1800
Elle est représentée dans sa manifestation féroce
de Sarasvati, déesse de l'éloquence. Elle est
assise en lalitasana sur sa mule dans un paysage
animé. Elle tient dans ses mains un vajra et un
kapala et porte une tiare ornée de crânes sur sa
chevelure enfammée. Tsongkhapa est assis au-
dessus entouré par Gyaltsab à gauche et Kedrub
à droite. La divinité à tête d'animal Makaramukha
et Simhamukha émergent des fammes de part et
d'autre de la divinité centrale ; monture en brocard
de soie.

Compare the present work with a 17th/18th
century black ground thangka of Maning Mahakala
which sold at Christie's New York, 19 March 2013,
lot 396. Both works contain a similar composition
with a large wrathful fgure at center, three lineage
fgures above and protector retinue deities below
fanking sensory oferings.
