A PALE CELADON JADE VESSEL INSET WITH
HARDSTONE FLOWERS
GUANGXU PERIOD (1875-1908)

清光緒 青白玉嵌寶插花瓶擺件

The vessel is shaped as a bamboo shoot and is carved
in relief with a phoenix amongst branches of bamboo.
The stone is of a pale celadon tone with some russet
and brown inclusions. The vase is inset with hardstone
models of fowers.

                                                        The group comprises a white jade standing fgure of Guanyin; a white jade
                                                        ‘lotus leaf’ brush washer; a russet agate carving of a monkey and a red agate
                                                        carving of a dog, the reverse carved as a bird using the white inclusion of the
                                                        stone.
