           A FLAMBÉ-GLAZED VASE
           18TH-19TH CENTURY

           The vase has a waisted neck covered in a
           crushed strawberry-red glaze that thins to
           greyish-celadon on the underside of the
           trumpet-shaped rim, while the body, with
           angled shoulder and lower edge, is covered
           with a dark red glaze densely streaked in
           milky lavender blue. The base is unglazed.

           UNDERGLAZE BLUE AND OF THE PERIOD
           (1875-1908)

           The heavily potted vases of square section
           have faceted sides decorated in relief with
           the Eight Trigrams, (bagua), and are covered
           allover with an attractive, pale bluish-green
           glaze.
