A FINE AND VERY RARE FAMILLE ROSE BOWL AND COVER
DAOGUANG SIX CHARACTER SEAL-MARK IN UNDERGLAZE BLUE AND OF THE PERIOD (1821-
1850)

The bowl is fnely enameled with three bands of overlapping lotus petals between the green
band encircling the foot in imitation of the lotus stem and a band of stamens at the rim. The
domed cover is painted en suite with petals overlapping leaves below a seed pod surmounted by
a gilded fnial.

Compare the present bowl and cover with an almost identical example from the Lai Family Collection,
sold at Christie’s New York, 17 September 2015, lot 913. See, also, a very similar bowl and cover, but with
