TABLE SCREEN

THE MARBLE PANEL, 19TH CENTURY

The attractively variegated circular marble
panel is enclosed by an openwork yingmu
frame and supported on a separate hongmu
stand with carved and pierced decoration.
The top of the marble panel is inscribed with
a title, shi shan ji cui (‘the emerald greens of
the Lion Mountain’) and a poem referring
to the scene, followed by a signature, Wang
Yu.

The box and cover are carved in the form of
two conjoined pomegranates borne on leafy
branches, the sides with wedge-shaped ribs.
