KANAKAVATSA TALES
Tibet, 19th Century Eastern Tibet, Kham, 19th Century
Kanakavatsa seated in a three-quarter pose in each thangka the Buddha seated on a lotus
on a decorative carved throne, dressed in red, throne at the center, holding his hands in varada
orange and green undulating silk robes, a pink mudra in two images, dharmachakra mudra
halo surrounding his head, holding in both hands and dhyana mudra in the others, with halos
a jeweled lasso, a selection of manuscripts on a framing the Buddha in blue repeated twice,
table placed to the side of the throne, the Naga green and orange, surrounded in a landscape of
King in a lake above offering Kanakavatsa a jewel, stupas, palace complexes, lakes and greenery
all set in an arranged landscape of green and blue all portraying past deeds in previous lives of the
mountains with foliage and trees Buddha Shakyamuni
