A GILT-SPLASHED BRONZE VASE, HU ᒞᕴ ׁ᪺ Ვ㕺㘍㩲㩐♄
LATE MING-EARLY QING DYNASTY
ϝᬝ
The vase is cast to the body with two raised concentric bands and
4QJOL BOE 4POT -UE 卿ٳᘹ卿 ჺ ᝲ
flanked on the sloping shoulder by a pair of crisply cast taotie-mask
handles supporting loose rings, all raised on a slightly splayed foot ൣ
and embellished overall with gold dapples of varying sizes. The 㲞ᳰែᙹ㪃≢ໝᝯࣿ㲮ჹྒྷࢷ⁒㱦卿㲞ᳰഌໝ卿Ƕᙔ⅊ⵧ
base is cast with an apocryphal Xuande six-character mark.
