panel implied a double meaning of longevity, in addition to the ࣍Ӯ卻ӳ卼ǯⴃຽᇁऀ՞།㘶ԋ卿ஙྒྷӳ⏭㇦ᝳ՞ங⒳֜᧦ណ卿
auspicious motif.

Influenced by the characteristic perspective and realistic ⯍ऀ՞།ԋ卿ᛮ㱓㫬༉Ӭ㪻㻸卿ⴃຽਮऀ՞༉ৡӬ㪶卿ऀ՞✣
painting style of Qing court painters, the present panel is ༉Ӷ⬒㺩⩢ǯྒྷԋԠណ୬Ӷឬ⩧⊂厎ἰ㊽Ԡ㻸୬Ӷ㺩⩧᫗卿᫉
superbly carved in various relief to depict the vivid images of
cranes and pines. The plumage on the cranes is exquisitely ᘢռⴃຽሲ⩠㧩⊂Ԡ㙣׍⽔厀᫉ἃஙᙻӶឬ⯝ᎰឬԠ㧿ǯ
detailed, clearly defining the variation in neck, throat, back ទᓔེἃԳ㪏⎑Ⴝᇙㅳ卿៏⯝㽁भᑨ៏㽁ᅠჺ卿༡ዪ㧩೰ᅠ
and flight feathers. The legs and the feet are sharply carved,
holding on to the delicately outlined tree bark and needle-like ⣱ǯ㫐㽁ᙻྒྷḖງᏈ卿჌߅Ӭ‷কᦼᚳჹ⎏ᜀ㎜ǯ᫉㯪ឬἃԳ
branches of the pine tree. The decoration on this panel not only 㪏⎑ႽᏒൃ卿Ք㇦ᙻݯձ⻱ワ৅ӳǯ᳖ջⶬल༈ᅡ⊺།㚿ӽ༱
incorporates the elegance and complexity seen on Giuseppe 卻 卼⥾⎏Ǹ៏㽁எǹ卻ވ̕卼卿⯝ទᓔེ㯪ឬൈ߅Ӭ㗂卿
Castiglione and Shen Quan’s scrolls, but also exemplifies →⻦Ṷ㪈ᘢ༈ࢷ⁒㩴卿ⶬ㢙ᙻǶ㚿ӽ༱ݥ㫀卻Ӵݺ卼Ƿ卿഍ᰥ卿
impeccable level of craftmanship during Qianlong reign. The ჺ卿㮰 ǯऱӬ㯪ឬՔ㇦ᙻ࢈՗ᘢ༈ࢷ⁒㱦⻦᳖༈ⶬ
result is a hanging panel of remarkable beauty.
