A FINELY CARVED PALE GREENISH-WHITE JADE
VASE AND COVER
18TH-19TH CENTURY
The vase of fattened baluster form is carved in high relief on one side with a
bird in fight above a fsh leaping from waves, and in lower relief on the reverse
with two birds in fight above a fowering branch. The two lug handles are
carved with archaistic chilong and the fnial is formed as a crouching Buddhist
lion. The stone is a very pale greenish-white color with a soft polish, and some
cloudy inclusions.
