concave foot, one side a deep russet hue, the
other side of a translucent white with small
apple green streaks, stopper. 5.2cm (2in) high

TWO JADE ‘PEBBLE’ SNUFF BOTTLES
20th century
Each very well hollowed, the first carved
from a pale green stone with cloudy-white
inclusions, carved in shallow relief with leafy
tendrils, green jade stopper, 5.5cm (2 1/8in)
high, the second from a paler stone with
striated russet inclusions, with incised designs
of bamboo and lotus issuing from craggy
rocks, malachite stopper, 6.5cm (2 1/2in)
high. (4).

A WHITE JADE SNUFF BOTTLE
Of baluster form, carved in shallow relief with
a scholar in a pine forest, the reverse with
a calligraphic inscription; together with two
agate snuff bottles, one carved in shallow
relief with a monkey and horse group, the
other deeply carved with a design of lotus;
and a stained russet archer’s ring with prunus
decoration. The white jade bottle: 5cm (2in)
high (4).
