in Great Japan. No. 617 is a description of one of Hokusai’s
sketches. Osa-ko-be Su-garu Toyo-ra no sato ni rai 0 toro.
Osakobe no Sugaru captures the thunder in the village of Toyora.
No. 618 is also descriptive of a sketch by Hokusai. 0 -ran-da
JIN YORU ten-mon o kangayeru dzu. The picture of a Dutch-
man studying astronomy in the night-time. The small characters
are Hira-kana. Nos. 6ig and 620 are also from a book illus-
trated by Hokusai; the first is Man-ga. Rough sketches; the
