                                           No. 710.
                  Painted   in  gold upon    a  Mask   of  carved   and  gilded
             wood.   Masks of this kind were       used,  in  the  feudal  days,
             by  the   actors  who    were   retained  at  the   Court  of  the
             Shogun    and   by  the   princes.    Ide-me   To-haku     utsusu.
             Mitsu-nao.    Mitsunao,   the  maker, who     copies the work    of
             Tohaku Ideme.    The lower character of the left-hand      inscrip-
             tion  is the mark   of the maker.

                  Painted  in  red and   gold upon    a Mask similar    to  that
             named    above.    Ko-aku    kami,  Shige-yasu.     Shigeyasu,  the
             name   of the maker.     Koaku no kami, probably the name of
             the  historic  character represented by the mask.       The small
             figure  to  the  right  is  a mere mark     the large one on the
                                                      ;
             left  is  the mark  of the maker.
