A RARE RETICULATED LONGQUAN CELADON ‘PEONY’ VASE,
YUHUCHUNPING
MING DYNASTY (1368-1644)
The pear-shaped body is decorated with a broad peony band in openwork
revealing the inner vase, all between a band of stylised lappets and classic
scrolls to the foot rim and ruyi-heads to the shoulder. The mouth rim is
encircled by a geometric band above upright lappets to the neck. It is covered
overall with a glaze of olive-green tone except the unglazed foot rim.
