                                                                        A LARGE ‘EEL-SKIN’-GLAZED VASE

72                                                                      The foot, body and broad neck are covered
                                                                        with a matte glaze of speckled yellowish-
                                                                        olive-green color between black-glazed,
                                                                        biscuit bands of waves above the foot, ruyi
                                                                        heads on the shoulder and diaper pattern
                                                                        at the fared rim. The similarly glazed,
                                                                        openwork handles are in the form of stems
                                                                        of lingzhi, and the rim and interior are glazed
                                                                        white. The base is unglazed.

                                                                        A LARGE FLAMBÉ-GLAZED ORMOLU-
                                                                        MOUNTED JARDINIÈRE
                                                                        18TH-19TH CENTURY

                                                                        The jardiniDre is heavily potted with deep
                                                                        sides that rise to an everted rim, and is
                                                                        covered on the exterior with a thick glaze
                                                                        of crushed-strawberry-red color shading
                                                                        to mottled purplish-milky blue at the rim
                                                                        where it thins to mushroom on the inner
                                                                        edge and then continues onto the interior in
                                                                        heavy drops on top of a pale greyish-green-
                                                                        tinted glaze. A central drainage hole is in the
                                                                        base.
                                                                        JardiniDre 14¬ in. (37.2 cm.) diam.,
                                                                        Continental ormolu mounts, 19th century.
