AN EMBELLISHED WHITE AND
SPINACH-GREEN JADE STEM
BOWL AND COVER
QING DYNASTY, 18TH CENTURY
The bowl and cover are carved and inset with white jade
embellishments to depict butterflies, peonies and melons growing
from leafy vines, all raised on an elaborately-worked tall foot
decorated to the central section with a band of four archaistic
scroll-form loops with loose rings, above bands of stylised lappets
inset with white flower heads and a band of raised floral blooms to
the flared foot.
