           AN INSCRIBED AND GILT CELADON JADE ‘FLOWERING     The inscription title reads “imperially inscribed : flowering crabapple”
           CRABAPPLE’ SNUFF BOTTLE                           followed by the poem 幾朶猩紅軟玉蕤,秋風初試怯猶遲,依稀七夕
           1760-1840, possibly Imperial                      長生殿,可憶無人私語時. Likely a poem originally composed by the
           Of compressed spade shape, incised and gilt to one side with   Qianlong emperor.
           flowering plants, probably begonia, and to the other with a thirty-two-
           character poetic inscription on flowering crabapple; stopper.   For two similarly-shaped floral and gilt-decorated nephrite bottles, see
