A WHITE AND RUSSET JADE SNUFF BOTTLE This quietly spectacular bottle has a warm tactile quality and warrants
1750-1830 turning in the hand to feel the extremely smooth surface of the russet
Of flattened rounded- square outline, one side plain but with an skin on one side and the elusive gradations of depth in the carving
attractive russet skin forming a patch which extends to the reverse on the other. Certainly a candidate for a possible attribution to the
side which is delicately carved in low relief with the outlines of a cliff Suzhou school, the subtle carving of the towering cliff above the lively
under which sits a fisherman in his craft with a crescent moon above; working fisherman in his raft below, exude a confident artisan at work
stopper. in the fashioning of the design to fit the shape and colors of the stone.
2 3/4in (6.9cm) high The exclusion of a foot ring, the lack of handles and the large size
