Of compressed tapering rectangular shape, painted in cobalt that 657, no. 1301. See also a bottle very closely related to this group
appears black with a man fishing while balanced on the trunk of a depicting the same scene of a fisherman and willow on one side and
willow tree on one face and with a poetic inscription describing the two magpies amidst rockwork and a prunus tree on the other, formerly
scene, with the date and followed by ‘inscribed at the office of the in the Edward T. Chow Collection, Sotheby’s, New York, 3 November
Superintendent of Customs at Xunyang by Liu Muzhi’ on the reverse 1982, lot 104. It was catalogued as bearing a four-character studio
side; stopper. name, not identified, but translated as ‘made in the cacia tree pavilion’.

Another bottle listed by Moss et al., op. cit., p.657 as from the Piper
$4,500 - 6,500 collection (unpublished) listed as depicting magpies and willow, is
signed by an individual - Gui Tingshou zhi (made by Gui Tingshou).
