A CARVED AGATE SNUFF BOTTLE

Well-hollowed, of flattened globular form, with a cylindrical neck,
flat lip, raised and flat oval foot, the exterior worked with the color 6148
variations of the natural semi-translucent stone, carefully carved
to depict a pleasing landscape scene of birds in flight overlooking TWO EGGPLANT-FORM JADE SNUFF BOTTLES
lush growth of flowers and pine trees, the reverse depicting pierced 19th/early 20th century
rockwork emerging from raging waves (tiny chips along rim). Each well-hollowed, with calyx surrounding the mouth, the first
2in (5.1cm) high carved from pale green and russet jade, one side decorated with
a beetle carved in relief; the second utilizing the natural russet
inclusions in the white stone, carved with feathery leaves.

Well-hollowed, the bottle realistically rendered as a corn cob,
supported by a circular foot ring, with a short neck, flat lip; the off- FOUR SNUFF BOTTLES
white stone cast with a pale russet tinge. 19th/20th century
2 1/4in (5.7cm) high Including a malachite bottle of tapering ovoid form, a waisted moss
agate bottle, a triangle form bottle decorated with raised leaves to
the side walls, and carved from honey-brown chalcedony (small
$600 - 800 chips), the fourth a hardstone bottle with a russet patch in the white
matrix (tiny chips, lip with polished down areas).

Presented as a section of a tree trunk, the sides realistically executed
with wavy contours and carved in raised relief with slender curving
branches bearing buds and blossoms; the matrix of rich purple blue,
displaying natural metallic inclusions.
