A VERY FINE AND RARE WHITE JADE CARVING OF TWO
BOATS
18th/19th century
The well-polished stone exquisitely carved as a long narrow boat
detailed with an intricate reticulated interlocking chain at the side and
the front, the deck carved with a dog and two boatmen steering at the
bow and stern, two boys leisurely crouching under the awning, below
an overhanging unfurled sail suspended from elaborately carved twist-
ropes attached to vertical and diagonal masts, the side with a smaller
boat connected with a rope enclosing a lady brewing tea, wood stand.
