A JADE TUBULAR ORNAMENT; A ROPE-TWIST RING;
A SMALL JADE CONG; A SMALL JADE BELT BUCKLE;
AND A JADE ‘TOOTH’
Warring States Period
Comprising a ribbed tubular ornament of baluster form resembling
the shape of a tall drum, the stone of greenish white tone with brown-
coloured streaks, 4.3cm (1 3/4in) high; a rope-twist ring carved from a
translucent stone of white tone with light russet mottling, 4cm (1 1/2in)
diam.; a ribbed cong-shaped tubular ornament of pale green tone with
extensive areas of dark russet, 2.4cm (1in) high; a small jade ‘duck’
belt buckle incised with scrolling patterns, the protruding hook as the
duck head and the two emerging flanges as the wings, 2.5cm (1in)
long; and a W-shaped angular ‘tooth’ formed as a curling dragon with
one end terminating with a stylised dragon head, the opaque stone of
‘chicken bone’ colour, 4.5cm (1 3/4in) long. (5).
