Richard C. Bull began collecting Chinese art in the 1930s. Many objects 台北震旦藝術博物館，2007年，頁65，圖版14。
from his collection were acquired from the leading Chinese art dealers
in New York, including Mathias Komor, J.J.Klejman and C.T.Loo. Gifts
of the collections were made to Bryn Mawr College, the University of
Pennsylvania Museum and to the Philadephia Museum of Art.

Compare a slightly larger pale green jade bi disc of similar form with a
large circular aperture at the centre and decorated with ‘grain’ pattern,
early Warring States period, in the Aurora Art Museum Collection,
illustrated by Sun Qingwei in Jades of Warring States Period, Aurora
Art Museum, Taipei, 2007, p.65, pl.14.
