   The jade is vividly carved in openwork with a sinuous dragon surrounding the ‘archer’s
   thumb ring-shaped ornament that is incised with ruyi-form scrolls.

  A JADE ‘DRAGON AND PHOENIX’ ORNAMENT, XI

    WARRING STATES PERIOD (475-221 BC)

   The flat ornament is carved in the shape of an intertwined dragon and phoenix, both
   detailed with open jaws, horns, and pronounced eyes, the dragon with its tail terminating
   in a backward curving point.
