    A WHITE JADE ‘CHILONG’ PENDANT

    HAN DYNASTY OR LATER

    The ornament is carved as a coiling chilong with a bifurcated tail and a long horn. It is

    depicted chasing its tail with its young coiled around its body; with an additional jade bead

    and a rectangular jade ‘dragon’ ornament.

    A JADE ‘MYTHICAL BEASTS’ PLECTRUM-SHAPED
    ORNAMENT

    SONG DYNASTY (960-1279)

    The jade is vividly carved in openwork with a sinuous panchi being attacked on either side
    by a bixie and a chihu, all surrounding the ‘archer’s thumb ring’-shaped ornament with
    further incised details. The stone is of a pale greyish-white tone with highlights ranging
    from a dark brown colour to russet tone.
