           Seated in dhyanasana and attired in princely raiment beneath an
           elaborate diadem enclosing a miniature identifying image of Amitabha,   US$4,000 - 6,000
           the left hand upheld in modified vitarka mudra while the outstretched
           right hand proffers an unidentified implement, the base unsealed (gilt to   5244

           identified by his long hair and the snake curled around the tortoise   Provenance

           the surfaces colored with black, red and gilt lacquer (extensive wear to   typed paper label on the Japanese wood storage box for the lot
           pigments).

                                                             17th/18th century
                                                             Attired in princely raiment and elaborate reticulated diadem, supporting
                                                             two unidentified implements on lotus pedestals blooming at either
                                                             shoulder attached to hands held in modified vitarka and varada
                                                             mudras, all raised upon a double lotus plinth, the exterior surfaces
                                                             showing traces of gilt (casting flaws).
