STAGES OF THE CLOISONNÉ-ENAMELLING PROCESS
Meiji (1868-1912) or Taisho (1912-1926) era, early 20th century
The first the sojizukuri (copper core), the second with the colour added,
fired and showing the shokusen (wires) placement and gluing of the
sculpted wires on the body, the third showing the pasted enamels after
firing, the fourth the polished, high gloss finished product applied with
the silver mounts; with an unrelated wood storage box.
Each vase: 9cm (3½in) high. (5).

Intricately worked in gold and silver wire with an all-over design of large
stylised spider chrysanthemums and tendrils on a ground flecked with
aventurine; unsigned. 34.2cm (13½in) high.
