A PAIR OF CLOISONNÉ-ENAMEL SLENDER BALUSTER VASES
Attributed to the Ando Jubei Company, Meiji era (1868-1912),
early 20th century
Intricately worked in gold and silver wire of varying gauge and decorated
with a matching scene, one vase with two geese flying above windswept
reeds growing above a shoreline of assorted seashells, the second with
a solitary goose wading among reeds, the neck of both vases encircled
with a band of shippo-tsunagi (linked cash), each vase unsigned, all
reserved on an olive-green ground, each vase with a wood stand; with
a custom-made, silk-lined, wood tomobako storage box inscribed and
signed on the lid Shippo kinsen rogan kabin ittsui, Jubei tsukuru (Gold-
wired cloisonné flower vase with the design of geese and reeds made by
Jubei) with seal Ando shi kinsei (Respectfully made by Ando).
Each vase: 18.2cm (7 1/8in) high. (5).
