Tang Dynasty
The elongated slender figure swaying gently
507 and with long ribbons flowing around the
body, the head crowned with an elaborate
headdress containing a seated figure of the
Amitabha Buddha, the left hand held beside
the body and dangling a small vase and the
left hand raised to the shoulder and holding
a length of drapery, standing on a lotus
pedestal, hardwood stand and fitted box.

Seated in lalitasana on a double lotus
pedestal, wearing a dhoti and heavy crown
and jewels with turquoise inlays, the hands
held in varada and vitarkamudra, flanked by
stemmed lotus to the shoulders, traces of
blue and red pigment to the hair, the mouth
and the back of the crown. 7.7cm (3in) high
