A PAIR OF FAMILLE ROSE ‘LONGEVITY’ VASES
Republic period
Each of tapering baluster form, surmounted by a waisted neck with
incurved lip, painted with decorative bands suspending jeweled chains,
one with longevity goddess Magu and a deer, inscribed with a poem
in praise of Magu; the other with the God of Longevity and a crane,
inscribed with a poem describing longevity peaches, both painted with
an array of imperial seals, with a Qianlong seal mark to the foot, all
seals infilled with gilt, wood stand, fitted box.
