A GREEN-GLAZED ‘DOUBLE GOURD’
WATER DROPPER
KANGXI PERIOD (1662-1722)
The vessel is modelled as a double gourd with
a pear-shaped lower section rising to a tapered
neck and slender stem which forms the spout. The
upper surface is decorated with an appliqué leafy
vine with a further smaller gourd.

A WUCAI FIGURAL WATER DROPPER
LATE MING DYNASTY, 17TH CENTURY
The piece is modelled as a smiling scholar wearing
the typical cap and long robes decorated with
fower heads. He is seated on a rocky seat between
a basin which forms the opening of the vessel and
an outcrop which forms the spout.
