A BLUE AND WHITE ‘NARRATIVE’
PHOENIX-TAIL VASE
KANGXI PERIOD (1662-1722)
The vase is decorated to the body with a scene
of a lady kneeling before an oficial and his
attendants on a terrace, all amongst pierced rocks
and plantain. The faring neck is decorated with
a similar scene, with a fgure bowing to a scholar
and his attendants. The base is marked with a
beribboned mirror (one of the Eight Precious
Things) within a double circle.
