779  |  AN EARLY BURMESE MARBLE BUDDHA,
 17th to early 18th CENTURY
 Burma, Shan style. Serene portrayal of Buddha Shakyamuni,
 seated in dhyanasana atop a stepped lotus throne, with his
 right hand resting in his lap and the left raised to his chest.
 Gracious facial features, incised urna and elongated earlobes.
 Original lacquer gilding.

 Condition: Generally, in very good condition. Loss to right
 hand as visible on the photo. The original lacquer coating
 darkened and partially worn off. Superb, naturally grown
 patina.
 Provenance: From a British private estate.
 Weight: 39 kg.
 Dimensions: Height 49 cm.

  A NAT WITH A SWORD AND NAGAS, C. 1900

 Burma. A very finely crafted and appealing terracotta figure. The nat is holding an iron
 sword in his right hand and is surrounded by snakes, one behind each shoulder, one
 around each arm, one through each earlobe and one around his head.

 Condition: Very good condition with few minor cracks.

 781  |  A BURMESE LACQUERED WOOD
 ‘HORSE’ BETEL NUT CONTAINER,
 18TH-19TH CENTURY

 Burma, 18th – 19th century. The container carved
 from wood in the form of an elegant horse and
 painted with the original red lacquer, the head and
 lid on the back are removable and this piece was
 evidently used to store betel nuts.


 Condition: Good condition with minor chipping and
 some losses.
 Provenance: Austrian private collection.
 Weight: 675.4 g in total.
