A FAMILLE ROSE ‘BOYS’ VASE
REPUBLIC PERIOD (1912-1949)
The vase is decorated with two panels, one enclosing four boys and a lady in
a fenced garden and the other with fve boys at play, the children each holding
a musical instrument, banner, ruyi sceptre or pomegranate. The panels are
reserved on a dense foral ground. The neck is applied with a pair of animal-
mask and ring handles. There is an apocryphal Qianlong mark on the base.

A FAMILLE ROSE CORAL-GROUND ‘LANDSCAPE’ VASE
20TH CENTURY
The vase is decorated with a continuous band of fgures in a mountainous
riverscape, between a coral ground to the foot and neck painted in gilt with
lotus scrolls, bats and stylised shou characters. The neck is applied with two
makara-form loop handles.
