     A SILK EMBROIDERED HANDSCROLL DEPICTING SWALLOWS
     QIANLONG PERIOD (1736-1795)

     The scroll is fnely embroidered with four swallows fying amidst fowering
     prunus and chrysanthemum branches, with a poetic inscription to one side
     with three seals. There are a further three collector’s seals to the bottom
     corners of the scroll.

     Compare the current lot to a Ming dynasty (1368-1644) embroidered hanging
     scroll, part of a set of four, also depicting swallows amidst prunus, illustrated

     Hong Kong, 1995, pp. 348-349, no. 124.
