     A RARE AUBERGINE-ENAMELLED OVIFORM VASE

     QIANLONG INCISED SIX-CHARACTER SEAL MARK AND OF THE PERIOD
     (1736-1795)

     The vase is potted with an ovoid body rising from a tapering foot to
     a long slender neck, and covered overall under an even dark purple
     enamel.
     10 in. (25.5 cm.) high, Japanese wood box

     HK$1,200,000-1,500,000  US$160,000-190,000

     Compare to a turquoise-enamelled vase of the same form and size, also
     bearing a Qianlong seal mark, formerly in the Robert Chang collection, sold
     at Christie’s Hong Kong, 31 October 2000, lot 822 (fig. 1).
