IN UNDERGLAZE BLUE AND OF THE
PERIOD (1821-1850)
The bowl is finely enamelled and gilt with
the fengdeng, the ‘Lanterns of Abundance’,
within four medallions divided by foral
sprays reserved on a ruby-ground. The
interior is painted in underglaze blue
with four be-ribboned canopied flasks,
surrounding a central medallion radiating
four flowering plants alternating with
insects suspending bejewelled ruyi-heads.

GROUND BOWL
DAOGUANG SIX-CHARACTER SEAL MARK
IN UNDERGLAZE BLUE AND OF THE
PERIOD (1821-1850)
The bowl is finely enamelled on the
exterior with three lemon-yellow ground
panels, each enclosing a broad blossoming
peony framed by foliate scrolls and
connected by the slender stems bearing
three smaller blue flowerheads amidst
further leafy foliage, all reserved on a rich
coral ground. The interiors and bases are
covered with a transparent glaze.
