the black lacquer exteriors inlaid with birds and animals among foliage, a Persian inspired blue and gilt scrolling ground, centred by a circular
one with a repeated symmetrical design, the other with panels of medallion inscribed in gilt: “farmayesh-e hazrat-e as’ad-e amjad-e
differing designs. arfa’-e vala sultan mas’ud mirza yamin al-dawlah zill al-sultan 1297.”

The patron is ‘Abd al-Hamid Mirza (1256-1309/1840-1891) the eldest £800 - 1,200

during his life, including the title Farmanfarma and governorship of The inscription translates as: ‘Commissioned by His Excellency, the
Kirman and Baluchistan, which he received after his father’s death in most Auspicious, the most Glorious, the Sublime, the most Noble, the
