The first a painting of fakirs at a retreat beneath a tree with female
musicians, Bengal, 18th century, in gouache on paper, lacking border,
23.4cm x 16.4cm, together with two calligraphic exercises on paper
in nasta’liq script, India, 18th century, both with two couplets of
Persian verses written diagonally in nasta’liq script in black ink within
cloudbands, blue and gold-sprinkled borders.
