A CONFUCIUS-STYLE ‘YINHE’ BLACK LACQUERED QIN
Ming Dynasty
Of Confucius-style form, the domed body slightly tapered from a flaring shoulder to a waisted
tail, the surface inlaid with thirteen mother-of-pearl studs (hui), the reserve incised with two
poems flanking the long rectangular longchi (dragon pool), and incised with a large seal
reading yinhe (Galaxy), the black lacquer finely crackled with a network of liushui (flowing water)
crackles, the seven pegs and two goose feet of dark horn, bag.
Overall 126.3cm (49 3/4in) long, shoulder 19.6cm (7 3/4in) wide, tail 14cm (5 1/2in) wide. (2).
