TWO CARVED IVORY POMANDERS AND COVERS
18th/19th century
The first of oval form, carved and painted to each side with blossoming
and fruiting, leafy gourd tendrils, on a finely reticulated ground, within a
ruyi and scrollwork form border; the second carved to each side with
a sinuous curled chilong, on an openwork geometric foliate pattern
ground, within key fret borders.
The largest 7cm (2.3/4in) long. (2).

A PAIR OF IVORY OPENWORK POMANDERS
19th century
Both intricately carved in the form of double-gourds borne on an
entwined stem issuing leafy tendrils and further blossoms, the gourds
elaborately carved with openwork diaper patterns. 11.2cm (4 3/8in)
long. (2).

AN UNUSUAL STAINED IVORY CARVING OF A DOUBLE-GOURD
19th century
The gourd carved with leafy tendrils to the exterior, with a screw-turn
lid revealing a chain suspending three small monkeys, the ivory stained
darker with a brown hue. 10.5cm (4 1/8in) high
