The octagonal bottle is carved through the translucent white and
black overlays to the ‘snowflake’ ground with a pattern of oblong and
oval panels in imitation of European glass carving.

A CARVED AGATE SNUFF BOTTLE
1770-1860
The lobed bottle is carved on either side with a butterfly with
outstretched wings, and with a small, pierced handle on either narrow
shoulder. The greyish-tan stone has whitish striations.
