China, 16th-17th century. The
guardian of the Buddhist faith
portrayed standing with a diadem
fronting a double top-knot, clad
in armor with a scarf tied round
the neck and fluttering ribbon
draped across the shoulder,
the face, hands and armor
details highlighted in turquoise,
aubergine and ochre glazes.
Provenance: From the
collection of Georg Weifert
(1850-1937). Thence by descent
in the same family. Weifert was
a Serbo-Austrian industrialist
and the first governor of the
Federal Bank of the Kingdom of
Serbia, Croatia and Slovenia.

condition: Wear and traces of
use, some chipping and losses
throughout, minor old repair to
tips of heavenly bands, fingers
of left hand reattached, overall
as expected of a large ceramic
figure with circa 500 years of
age.

大型法華彩韋陀像,明代
中國,十六至十七世紀。韋陀立像,頭
戴頭盔,身著盔甲,整體施松綠色、紫
色和赭石色釉。
來源:Georg Weifert (1850-1937)收
藏,同一家族保存至今 。Weifert曾爲塞
爾維亞中央銀行大班以及塞爾維亞、克
羅地亞與斯洛文尼亞聯邦銀行大班。
品相:磨損和使用痕跡,一些開片和缺
損,綬帶上有輕微老修補,左手指粘補
過,總體狀況與其500年歷史相符。
