The Khmer king Jayavarman II, moved his
capital from Vyadhpura to Hariharalaya in
the late eighth century. A small corpus of
important sculptures, including this Vishnu
are associated with the small temples built
during this period under his reign. The more
elaborate treatment of the sampot and more
powerful physique marks the transition to the
Angkorian period.
