With rounded everted sides raised on an
inverted short channelled footring, the well
enamelled with a central medallion enclosing
dense foliate lotus scrolls, encircled by four
lotus lappet panels enclosing various flowers
including prunus, lotus, peony and aster
amidst rockwork and insects, reserved against
a seeded green ground, the cavetto with six
cartouches enclosing be-ribonned precious
objects, reserved against honeycomb diaper
ground, the exterior decorated around the
sides with foliate floral sprays, the underside
with an underglaze blue artemesia leaf.
The flowers in the four cartouches likely
represent the Four Seasons, peony for spring,
lotus for summer, aster for autumn, plum
blossom for winter.

A GROUP OF SWEETMEAT DISHES
Kangxi (1662-1722)
Comprising three part-sets: the first including
six hexagonal famille verte dishes variously
decorated with scholars and officials engaged
in various pursuits, 13.5cm (5 1/2in) wide; two
green, ochre and cream glazed trapezoidal
dishes, each decorated with a Buddhist lion,
17.2cm (6 6/8in) across; a green, turquoise,
ochre and cream glazed shaped dish,
decorated with plum blossom reserved on
cracked-ice ground, 19.2cm (7 1/2in) across;
and a shaped ochre-ground dish decorated
in cream and green with a prunus tree issuing
blossoms, 11.4cm (4 1/2in) wide. (10).
