           Compare with a related pair of famille verte
           tea caddies and covers, Kangxi, which was
           sold at Sotheby’s Paris, 12 July 2021, lot
           110. Tea caddies, known in the late 17th
           and early 18th century as ‘canisters’, appear
           to have been first imported by the English
           East India Companies in the late 1690s, with
           the quantities significantly increasing by the
           end of the Kangxi period as demand for tea
           increased as well as the China trade.
